“Lest We Forget” Using Laser Scanning to capture and create immersive tours of Normandy D-Day monument sites  - 12:05pm

In this presentation, you will see scans and drone footage of several historic D-Day sites, taken in 2019 and 2024. This footage preserves the legacy and enables the creation of immersive, interactive tours to honor the sacrifices made during WWII.  

This topic is inspired by the presenter's father ("Pop"), a D-Day veteran whose heroic story is featured in Stephen Ambrose's book D-Day. His LCT(6)544 landed a combat bulldozer and five Ranger Scout jeeps on Easy Red Omaha Beach.
