Openings Studio™ is a full-featured, web-based suite of BIM software tools for creating / visualizing 3D doors, frames, and hardware objects and modifying their associated parameters for use in design, construction, and facility management. The focus of our presentation will cover how architects can utilize this software along with the Revit Plug-In to send / receive information as well as how this software can be leveraged as a springboard for professional services.

6:30pm - 7:15pm Authoring and controlling your Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) content using KitConnect
Presented by Steve DeWitt, Project Frog

Project Frog is a company that has been focusing on offsite fabrication for 15 years and has developed a wide range of tools to support these workflows. In partnership with Autodesk, they have built software using Forge to develop a tool called KitConnect. KitConnect facilitates the authoring and management of prefabricated systems and/or repeated content throughout a designs’ lifecycle. Through a data-centric approach, this presentation explores how KitConnect eliminates the traditional file/folder structure by storing cloud-based data recipes using Forge and BIM 360. An overview of the tool will expose how KitConnect manages parts (families), system types (system families), KitConnect assemblies, KitConnect Modules and rules. Steve will highlight some of the benefits companies receive by using KitConnect and expose some new workflows and process in support of DfMA and Prefabrication.
