Citron Baltimore, 2605 Quarry Lake Drive, Baltimore, MD 21209

Hear from Revit users as they share their ideas, methods, and best practices in order to further the Building Information Modeling (BIM) benefits for the local design community.

Food will be served. Attendees will receive 2 AIA CEUs for attending.

Meeting Topic:  Project Coordination

6:00pm - 6:20pm Networking - Food and drink served

6:20pm - 6:30pm Introductions
Presented by Andrew Watkins, Design Collective

6:30pm - 7:00pm Revit Model Health Check & Dashboard
Presented by Noah Harburger, ASG

Step by step demonstration, showing a simple and free way to create a visual representation of a Revit model’s current health status, while also tracking changes to its health over time.

7:00pm - 7:45pm Architecture and MEP on multifamily/Hospitality and groups
Presented by Heather Worrell, Ratio Architects & Alex Jonovski, KLH Engineers

The architect needs a file that can be easily modified across multiple rooms and swap out unit/room types. The MEP consultant wants to know exactly where that light needs to be placed on the wall. This session will review how RATIO and KLH have started to share this work.

When working in the multifamily, hospitality, and even healthcare sectors, having repetitive elements that work consistently from schematic design to construction administration is imperative for architects. During construction documentation, having the ability to make changes across multiple rooms is something that needs to happen on a relatively frequent basis. Often the architect doesn't consider the impacts their moves and modifications have on the MEP consultant model - impacts that occur across hundreds of rooms, leaving the MEP consultant to review the placement of many elements during each model exchange. KLH has developed tools that allow their engineers to work efficiently in this type of project environment. KLH and RATIO have worked together to develop strategies to better communicate locations for elements in a model group environment. As an architect, you will learn how to communicate more effectively in the model environment with your consulting engineer and learn some tools to make your projects using groups work more consistently and efficiently. As an MEP consultant, you will learn how to more easily set up your model from the beginning and manage the changes that will inevitably come your way. In the shared model environment, architects and engineers must continue to evolve their collaboration strategies to stay efficient and respond to changes in a timely fashion. Sharing is caring. This class is ideal for BIM managers, model managers, architects, interior designers, MEP consultants and those who want to work better as a team. This class will include live demo as well as case studies.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn the basics of setting up groups for multifamily and hospitality models.
2. Learn what is possible with customization of tools for MEP modeling.
3. Discover how to approach a teaming environment that allows for communication in the model environment.
4. Learn how to overcome some of the common obstacles in managing changes during the design process.
